  • Quote from Bernadette Devlin
This year our family welcomed two beautiful twin girls as granddaughters. We have been watching them grow over the last several months and develop their own unique personalities. These beautiful girls are identical twins and arrived right on time to continue a pattern of twins every four generations in my mother’s ancestry. Yes, I know this as my downtime is spent looking for missing ancestors in my family tree, which I have traced back for thousands of years to many great individuals in history.

The biggest lesson these little girls have taught me is that you cannot assume something is the same just because it looks alike. While these girls share the same DNA, they are completely different. One will cry near strangers and cling. While her sister is eager to interact with anyone. One is three pounds heavier as well as taller than her sister, even if it is so slight. One is sitting up without much help, and the other needs support around her as she develops her core muscles for sitting.

Even though my husband cannot yet tell these beautiful little girls apart, they are not the same. This is the same for every divorce case handled by the firm. While there may be parts of the case that is similar to another case, both case are unique and cannot be treated the same. The team at Melissa Pearce & Associates can tell the difference between cases even if slight and spot when issues are the same and previous research can help. If you want to be treated for who you are and what your situation brings, then call the office.

Please Help Us Welcome Our New Employees

This past month we welcomed two new employees to our firm. Our first new employee is Morgan Davison. She is our newest part-time administrative assistant. She is going to be helping with our day-to-day activities. You can expect calls from her to schedule your appointments  or telephone calls and reminders about these appointments.

Our next new team member is our full-time Paralegal Amanda Nelson. Amanda will be joining the legal team and helping with your case every step of the way. She will be doing most of the document drafting and coordinating with the courts for hearings and filings. We are so happy to have her as a new smiling face on the team.

Come back and check us out next month to find out what we will be up to next!
Traveling for Holiday Parenting Time and Six Tips to Make It Less Stressful
You are scheduling your first family vacation with your kids since your divorce. How do you plan this vacation with your ex in mind? What do you or do you not tell them or do in that vacation? Here a few tips on how to make your vacation planning go smoothly:

1. Do not tell your children first!

You have planned a vacation to Disneyland and want to share the news with your children. Your boss has approved your vacation time and it will be scheduled for the upcoming holiday break from school. You know the children will be excited, but when should you tell them. The best tip is to wait to tell the children until after you have spoken with the other parent and all details are set.
